Valerie Smith: 2nd Vice President and Scholarship Chairperson
Education: To reaffirm and promote the right of access to education for all. Education is the second element of our National Five Points Program (MEEPS).
The Mu Omicron Second Vice President, who is also the Scholarship Chairperson, encourages academic achievement and continuing education of our youth and working women within communities at all levels of the organization by offering various scholarships. This year, the Mu Omicron Scholarship Committee makes available one scholarship. Through our scholarship program, we recognize graduating high school seniors and students attending an accredited institution (two or four-year institution, technical school, business/secretarial school, or other equivalent program institution) pursuing a certificate, an associate degree, or a bachelor's degree from the Washington Metropolitan Area (DC, MD, and VA), who demonstrates academic excellence, community service, leadership skills, and who choose to attend an institution of higher learning. The scholarship winner is notified in early June by the Scholarship Chairperson, and scholarship awards are presented to the recipients in mid-June. |
